I think the part that is upsetting to at least a few of us, is the fact that it took so long for Pastor Evans to repent and take these steps of resigning and being restored-thus causing a lot more pain and hurt than might have occurred if this was done closer to the time of occurrence. Others are concerned about what exactly the sin was, as by not stating it, wild surmises have arisen (especially after Gateway and other similar situations). Both are unfortunate, and while I completely understand keeping the exact details private, and am happy that he is now doing the right thing-regardless of how this may cause people to speak harshly and condemn him for it, it’s just sad all around. Respect to him and the elders for following the Bible and having him step down, but what a tragedy that this had to be done in the first place, and that so many are going to be negatively impacted (including his family and church home).

If you enlist and serve honorably and practice the military's core values such as selfless service, you don't need to serve Jesus Christ or his 10 commandments because the military will make you a better person than Jesus Christ has ever been or ever will be.
